I cant save my plan (I get an error code of 2038)

Answer: If you are seeing this on a Mac running osx el captian see this first.

Otherwise the first thing is to try saving your plan in a different location. eg: save the plan on your desktop or in the documents folder. It may be that Garden Planner doesn't have permission to save the plan where you are trying to save it.

If you are using Garden Planner on Windows you could also try before you start right clicking on the Garden Planner icon on your desktop and choosing Run as Administrator from the menu. This means you will be running Garden Planner with more permissions and hopefully it will let you save your plans anywhere.

Finally, Garden Planner does make a backup of your plan about every ten minutes so you should be able to get your plan back if you think you have lost it. From the help menu choose Recover Last Plan.

Mac: I can't open the plan I saved

Answer: If you are using Garden Planner on the Mac and when you double click on a Plan it wont open and when you browse to Open the plan you can't find it. Solution: Find the plan you saved in Finder and check that the plan has the extension .gml at the end of the file name. If it doesn't then try adding .gml to the end of the plan file name (eg: myplan.gml) and then double click on the plan name to open it.

Problem: How do I save a plan as PDF?

Answer: if you have a Mac then click Print then look for the “PDF” button in the lower left corner, click on that pull-down menu, and select “Save as PDF”.
If you are using Windows you will need to install software that lets you print to pdf.

Problem: Where are all the objects? - I can't find any objects other than Shrubs and Plants

Problem: Importing a jpg file into my plan but every time I save the garden plan and re-open the program the jpg has disappeared.

Answer: When an image is imported it really only stores a reference to the images location on your computer.

So if the image isnt still on your computer in the same location when you reopen then it wont appear.

The solution is to save the image you want to import into a non-temporary folder on your computer - Id suggest saving (or moving) the image into the same folder as your plan and then importing it.

Problem: The application wont remember my license key. I have to type it in each time I use the application.

Answer: First try downloading the latest version of garden planner and see if that resolves the issue.
Windows users : try right clicking on the Garden Planner icon on your desktop and then choose Run as Administrator. Then enter the key and hopefully this time it will remember the key.

Problem: I am working on a large plan and find that drawing fences and/or placing trees wont work..

Answer: This can occur if you are using an older version of garden planner. You need at least version 2.4d (you can find the version number by choosing About Garden Planner from the help manual) Please download the latest version of garden planner from here
